Natick mall now offers mini-doughnuts
Cai Zhang and his wife, Phoebe, recently opened The Dapper Doughnut in the food court at the Natick Mall. This is the first such shop of the chain to open in New England.
The doughnuts are miniature in style and made to order in an automatic fryer. They are then decorated by hand with over two dozen ingredients from which to choose, including sugar toppings, sauces, and fresh fruit. The most popular toppings so far include Strawberry Bella, Nutella Dream, and Cinnamon Sugar. Zhang said they are more cake-like in nature in that the outside is slightly crunchy while the inside is very moist and airy.
The Dapper Doughnut also sells three blends of coffee and doughnut milkshakes, which are made from ice cream doughnuts, sauce, and whipped cream.
Corporate headquarters for the chain is at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The director of training for the company, Tommy Jacobstein, said that all locations of the chain have the same flavors and seasonal selections, but each owner can also try out their own flavors, which can go on to be featured across the country.
Banner printing can be used to create displays that can advertise such unique offerings in heavily shopped areas and encourage people to try such a new sweet option.
Zhang is planning to get a catering license, so he can host birthdays and corporate events serving his mini-doughnuts.
