Channel Kindness, a program launched by the Born This Way Foundation of Lady Gaga last year, recently selected Addison Dlott of Natick to be one of its reporters.
Dlott is junior at Ithaca College and is majoring in documentary studies and production. She said that making films is one of the best ways to introduce fresh ideas and change perceptions.
Dlott will have the opportunity as part of Channel Kindness to document acts of acceptance, generosity, and compassion through essays, videos, and other content that will be posted on its website over the next year. She is one of 50 people between the ages of 15 and 24 who were selected from applicants across the country. She gets support and training, including a two-day workshop in New York City, with additional webinars every month during the year in which she serves as a reporter.
The executive director of the foundation, Maya Smith, said that Dlott was chosen for her abilities in storytelling about autism awareness and other relevant topics. Dlott was inspired by her brother Ted, who is on the autism spectrum and was often bullied while growing up.
Flyers are often used to inform the community of such achievements as this one, and to publicize efforts of a program focused on health, wellness, kindness, and other topics.
