Natick celebrates week of eco driving
Those who head to the Natick Farmers Market will be able to look at and test drive electric and hybrid cars as part of National Drive Electric Week.
Participating dealers will include Ford, BMW, Nissan, and Toyota. There will be a range of cars to see parked around the Common, from Teslas to Zero Motorcycles, and vehicles from local electric car enthusiasts.
A local chapter of the Sierra Club is organizing the event so that those in the area can discuss the costs, benefits, emissions, and charging issues with regard to plug-in electric vehicles. Current owners of electric cars will be showcasing their motors and sharing their personal electric car experiences.
A co-organizer of the event, Philippa Biggers, commented that electric vehicles are now a viable option given the state and federal rebates currently available. She hopes residents will attend the event and consider the environmental and economic benefits of an electric car.
The new electric car for the Town of Natick, a Ford Focus Electric 2015 model, will also be featured and more information about the plans the Town has to install an electric vehicle a charging station for an electric vehicle in Natick Center will be revealed. The Town may be using flyer printing companies for providing materials about the car and the charging station.
This special event is being held today, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
