Natick appoints hew head of finance

Dr. Anna Nolin, Superintendent of the Natick Public School District, has announced that the new Director of Finance for the district will be Matthew Gillis.

Such announcements often require the need for business card printing services for the person in the new position.

Nolin said that the interview committee was won over by his wisdom and varied and deep experience in the areas of operations, management, and finance. Nolin added that the district is fortunate that this caliber of finance professional should be attracted to working for the district.

Gillis has been working over the past 22 years in developing, managing, and presenting capital project budgets, operating budgets, warrant articles, grants, and revolving fund budgets. During this time, he has also been involved with several professional organizations including the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General, the Massachusetts Treasurer’s and Collector’s Association, and attended workshops from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Gillis has also worked in the field of School Business Administration and in a regional school system for grades kindergarten through twelve since December 2001.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Marist College, his Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University. He holds a license for Superintendent and one for School Business Administrator from the state’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Gillis will begin his position on July 1 upon the retirement of the current Director of Finance, Peter Gray.
