Natick and Framingham to build regional emergency dispatch center

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has awarded a grant of $4.33 million to Framingham and Natick to establish a regional district for 911 emergency communications between the two communities for the dispatch of police and fire.

News of such awards and the resulting benefits for the associated communities is often spread among communities with help from local printing services.

The dispatch center will be on Route 126 in downtown Framingham in the office building next to the Memorial Building. This building was purchased by the city of Framingham in March 2023. This is a four-story building which is occupied by the Framingham Health Department and Clinic on the first floor. The dispatch center will be on the remaining upper floors of the building. Natick and Framingham will share the duties, expenses, and responsibilities of building, operating, and maintaining the regional emergency communication facility.

Charlie Sisitsky, mayor of Framingham, said that combining the dispatch operations of the police and fire departments of the town has been a goal for quite some time. Sisitsky added that this grant will be important for preparing and equipping the center for operation

Jamie Errickson, Natick Town Administrator, said that this demonstrates what shared, regional services can provide for communities in Massachusetts. Erikson expressed confidence that the grant will accelerate the collaborative effort and is looking forward to this center with their partners in Framingham.
