Solarize Mass Natick will be holding its inaugural event this month at the Natick Community Senior Center.
There will be representatives and volunteers from the state Department of Energy Resources and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to discuss how solar energy can be made simple and affordable for property owners in Natick.
It is designed so that cost of using solar energy is reduced and the installation process is simplified so that homeowners and businesses will consider it a smart investment and beneficial financial decision. It is based on a model that for community solar purchasing that has been proven to be successful in over 100 communities in New York, Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
Representatives of the designated installer for Natick, Boston Solar, will be at the event so that small business owners and residents can learning about equipment and pricing, ask questions, and sign up for their home to be assessed. There will also be light refreshments and possibly Brochures with more information about the program.
According to Jay Turner, the Solar Coach for Natick, the time is right to go solar. Prices from Solarize Mass Natick are about 25% less than what the average cost was to install solar last year and there are now more incentives from the state to install solar.
The event will be held beginning at 7:00 pm on May 19.
