The Memorial Field of Natick High School will be the location for the Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society of Natick, Dover, Framingham, Holliston, Sherborn, and Ashland. The 20th anniversary of this local Relay for Life will be celebrated this year.
Last year, the Relay took place in Framingham at Bowditch Field. There were 55 teams and raised close to $120,000 for cancer research programs. Over the past 20 years, the local Relay has raised over $2m. Poster printing can be used to advertise such achievements and promote further fundraising efforts.
So far, there are 27 teams, including Clockers Fightin Cancer, Unbreakable Glasses, the Greater Ashland Lions, and Team Triumph. Both past new and participants are welcome to join the Relay.
Bands Battling Cancer is a new feature of the Relay for this year. Bands from local schools are encouraged to sign up for the Relay and each will perform a set lasting 20 minutes at various Memorial Field locations on the day of the Relay. Bands can raise funds and people can vote for their favorite. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
Also welcome at the event are cancer survivors and their caregivers, who will be treated to a special luncheon after the opening ceremony.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 8, from 10:00 am to midnight.
