Fitchburg walking workshop to introduce fun of foraging
Foraging provides a way to make the most of Mother Nature’s bounty, and a Fitchburg area outing will offer an introduction to the basics of the practice.
Owl Eyes Wilderness Survival offers an assortment of learning opportunities, and it has set the date for an afternoon excursion that will offer hands-on experience. The registration fee is $35 each, and those who sign up will gather at 12 Dudley Road in Townsend before they head out.
During the activity, the group will learn the importance of foraging using methods that are both sustainable and ethical. They will find out which plants are edible, as well as how they can be used. The walk will include rough terrain and will follow a route of up to one mile. Everyone is advised to bring a pen and notebook as well as water and snacks. Sturdy walking shoes are also highly recommended.
More people are becoming interested in discovering the benefits of foraging for wild foods. A workshop offers them the chance to get started in the hands of people who know about the practice, and handouts for an activity can be prepared by stationery printers.
This opportunity to discover the fun of foraging will start at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, October 9. Everyone who signs up is asked to make sure they arrive on time.
