Fitchburg to discover fun of foraging
A Fitchburg class is set to help the public get started in putting together a meal they have sourced for themselves.
Gibbet Hill Farm Field School has scheduled a foraging workshop that will introduce some of the area’s edible plants that are usually easy to identify. It can be a fun way for those on hand to get their feet wet, and it will be led by David Craft.
During the hike, Craft will point out edible species, and there will also be tips shared for preparing them. Lamb’s quarters, burdock root, and pineapple weeds are just a sample of what may be found on the farm’s property, where at least 35 different edible species have been discovered. Following the excursion, attendees will be treated to some light crudités along with a selection of breads.
This chance for the public to get the inside scoop on foraging for edible plants will be on offer rain or shine. Everyone is reminded to wear suitable footwear and bring along gloves if they wish. Basic field guides for a nature-based learning activity like this can be created by a brochure printing company in the area.
This opportunity for Fitchburg to get started at foraging will be hitting the trail at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 1. The activity will take two hours to complete.
