Officials at the East Baton Rouge library have announced an upcoming event on gardening. The event is meant to give Baton Rouge, Louisiana the opportunity to better understand how to create an excellent home garden, as well as know how the latest research in science has impacted their home garden.
This event will be led by Dr. Aaron Ashbrook, Urban Entomologist at the Louisiana State University AgCenter. Dr. Ashbrook is working with the Baton Rouge Botanic Garden Foundation and will be teaching specific strategies that home gardeners can use to improve their gardens. In addition to discussing the history of scientific research in gardening, Dr. Ashbrook will be reviewing research into insects and how inspects impact gardens. He will also discuss insecticide resistance, pest behavior, and the biological evolution of “urban pests” and their impact on home gardens. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of specific tactics they can deploy to enhance their gardens.
After the event, individuals are encouraged to stay and ask Dr. Ashbrook questions. Attendees can also explore the library, pick up Promotional Products, and check out other upcoming events.
The event takes place on July 13, and runs from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. It is a free event, but library officials have requested any interested party register first. The event takes place at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd., in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
