Baton Rouge has tough pumpkins

For those looking for a 5K out of the ordinary, the Pumpkin Pi 3.14 Mile Race and Tough Pumpkin Challenge is coming to Baton Rouge this fall. The Pumpkin Pi 3.14 Mile Race along with the Tough Pumpkin Challenge is considered officially part of the fall Fifolet Halloween Festival. Fifolet is a Halloween extravaganza that fills a week with fun and unique activities.

The event presents a 3.14-mile-long journey around the Mississippi River Levee. It is actually 200 feet more than a typical 5K. The only Halloween costume race in Baton Rouge is incorporated into this run.

Running “the pi” is part of the Tough Pumpkin Challenge as it is done while the runner holds the pumpkin.

Banner printing is a key element in preparing for outside races as they serve as directional as well as informational signage for the participants. Printed on heavy vinyl, the Banners can withstand weather elements and have multi-uses.

Participants can expect to receive a finisher’s medal. Upon completing the Tough Pumpkin Challenge, racers will receive a special medal. Prizes by age group will be awarded. Standard race best overall female and male will be awarded a trophy.

Food, entertainment and contests will take place after the race in Halloween Town followed by the Baton Rouge Halloween Parade, which is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. The event will take place October 17.
