This summer, the plan is for the Baton Rouge Jet Center (BTR Jet) to acquire Executive Aviation so that its operations can be expanded inside the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
Executive Aviation is a subsidiary of The Newtron Group, a specialty construction business in the area. In recent years, the leadership of The Newtron Group started talks about a potential acquisition and the purchase was finalized at a time when it was decided by Executive Aviation to sell its aviation business in order to make construction work the focus of its business.
BTR Jet is a fueling hub for aircraft and this acquisition will enable BTR Jet to build a fixed-base operations center, 5,000 square feet in size, as well as three aircraft hangars that will take up 45,000 square feet, with sufficient capacity to house larger jets.
President of BTR Jet, Brett Furr, said there is a great demand for such operations, which primarily serve clients who have their own aircraft which require fueling before flying out of a municipal airport, and that he expects them to be full as soon as they are constructed.
There are currently a dozen employees working for BTR Jet and the company plans to hire more as customer demand increases. Business card printing is often used when new employees join a company.
Furr added that the plans are to make this operation more of a destination hub, and that glass will be used heavily to enhance the building’s appearance.
