Trade skill classes come to Southgate area school

The new Enzweiler Building Institute construction trades school in Covington will be starting classes at the end of this month. Residents of Southgate who want to learn a trade may be interested in the upcoming offerings at the Institute.

Director of Professional Development for Enzweiler, Vicki Berling, said most of the classes focus on electric and carpentry work, but there will also be classes on facilities maintenance, plumbing, masonry, welding, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). There will also be a special program in commercial roofing that will last 10 weeks.

Berling added that there is still time to sign up, stressing that those who are looking for a career that pays more and is more stable than their current position should take the initiative and sign up for a class. Classes like these that benefit those in the community are often advertised with flyer printing methods to provide more details about their curricula and the instructors.

As a financial partner of the school, the city of Covington is working with the Institute to introduce a workforce able to boast more of these skills, and increase the income of local families.

Classes are designed for adults and will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Classes begin on Tuesday, January 31.
