Technical college celebrates student employment

The achievements of 11 students from Gateway Community and Technical College in Covington, a short distance from Southgate, were recently celebrated during its “Going Pro Day” ceremony.

This is an event where letters of employment were formally signed by students with top employers in the region and symbolizes the transition of these students from college to professional positions. These students will be starting their careers in some of the most high-demand industries in Northern Kentucky.

Dr. Fernando Figueroa, president of Gateway, said that this event is the college’s way to honor the next generation of leaders in the workforce. He expressed his gratitude to the businesses that partner with the college to train the next generation of leaders. He added that this is an initiative that will help graduates of the college to fill many highly sought after job openings.

Among the businesses offering employment opportunities to these students and present at the ceremony were Krauss Maffei, Bosch, Armor Limak, and Safran Landing Systems.

News of such significant events and their impact on the community and Southgate area can be disseminated with flyer printing.

The Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System sponsor the “Going Pro Day”. It is part of an initiative across the state that highlights the important role that education plays in meeting the workforce needs of Kentucky.
