Special Mexican celebration to come to Southgate area

Vice-chair of Linden Grove Cemetery, Emily Swisher, and Sergio Gutierrez will be holding a traditional Dia de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) event in Covington this weekend.

Residents of nearby Southgate of Mexican heritage, and others who appreciate the significance of this celebration, will not want to miss this special event. Such unique and cultural events can be promoted to those in a city and surrounding communities with banner printing.

The event is a holiday of two days dedicated to the deceased and it endeavors to reunite the dead and the living. Offerings are created by families to honor those members of the family who are no longer with us.

OLLA Taqueria, operated by Gutierrez, will be providing Mexican cuisine. There will also be many beverages from which to choose, wagon rides, Chapines Musical playing live music, a commemorative altar to honor those who have passed, and face painting with a Day of the Dead theme for both children and adults. A traditional folklorico dance performance is on the schedule as well. Admission to the event is free and open to people of all backgrounds and ages.

The Day of the Dead event will be held at the Historic Linden Grove Cemetery and Arboretum on West 13th Street in Covington this Saturday, October 28, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.
