Southgate mayor elected to state leadership position

James Hamberg, mayor of Southgate, was elected the new president of the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC). He was sworn in at the annual Conference and Expo in Owensboro and will lead the organization for the next year, and testify on behalf of the League in Frankfort.

Announcements of such important appointments and their implications for a city and the state are often announced with poster printing.

Hamberg said that he will listen to leaders of cities across the state over the next year and advocate on their behalf. He said that he plans to travel across the state and visit as many cities as possible. As leader of the Kentucky League of Cities, he intends to listen, ask for help, and work diligently to improve the quality of life in all the cities in the state.

Executive Director and CEO of the KLC, James D. Chaney, expressed his thanks to Hamberg and others for assuming new leadership positions and their willingness to serve not just their own communities but those in the League as well. Chaney added that these leaders are focused on the needs of their own communities and noted that it is a testament to their passion for Kentucky that they are willing to advocate for all the citizens and cities in the state.
