Site of well-known nightclub in Southgate for sale

JLL Commercial Real Estate recently listed the site where the 1977 fire took place at the Beverly Hills Supper Club as being for sale. The site includes 79 acres along US 27.

Jim Hamberg, mayor of Southgate, said that he is hoping that some kind of mixed-use development will be built there. Ideally, he added, it would be primarily an office complex with supporting retails space, but there would be no big box stores. He said he would also be amenable to a hotel and convention center, or a development of single-family homes.

Rusty Myers, the listing agent from JLL Commercial Real Estate, said that some prospective buyers have already shown interest in the property.

Life Enriching Communities currently owns the site and purchased it in 2001. Hamberg said the city is engaged in talks with the owner to purchase a small piece of property so that a permanent memorial to Beverly Hills Supper Club can be installed somewhere along US 27, and become visible to the community. Banner printing can be used to keep the community informed of the progress of such projects.

As a upmarket destination for live entertainment and dining, the Beverly Hills Supper Club was often an attraction for some of the most well-known people in showbusiness, with regular appearances from Hollywood singers and actors.
