Runners take part in frozen race

Athletes in and around Southgate can take part in a chilly athletic event at the end of the month.

The Cincinnati Cyclones Frozen 5K Run and Walk will take participants alongside the Ohio River and through the local transit center. Individuals can run or walk in this chip-timed race.

Later at night, participants can become spectators at a special hockey game to promote breast cancer awareness. During the game, the Cyclones, a professional hockey team, will wear pink jerseys. Jerseys will be auctioned off when the action is over.

Registration costs $35, or $40 on race day. The fee includes a long-sleeved shirt, post-race hot chocolate, sponsor swag, and a voucher to the ‘Cyclones Pink In The Rink game’ later that evening. Additional vouchers for the game can be purchased for $13. Vouchers can be exchanged for tickets at the box office.

Some of the proceeds will go to help The Pink Ribbon Girls. The group hopes to help families impacted by breast cancer with services, like meals and transportation, along with emotional support. The group was created to support younger women who have faced breast cancer.

In order to promote this event, printing companies were probably contacted to create Flyers, Posters, and Banners. In addition, vouchers and tickets were likely needed for the hockey game.

The fun starts on January 31 at 9:00 am at the U.S. Bank Arena, located on 100 Broadway Street.
