Pops concerts come to Southgate area

The closing concerts of the Summer Series of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (KSO) will be taking place in Covington and Fort Thomas. Residents of nearby Southgate who are fans of “pops” concerts may be interested in attending one of these final concerts of the summer season.

Promoting such concerts throughout a region can be accomplished with poster printing.

Pops concerts feature short, light, and peppy pieces. The lead writers of these pieces included Henry Mancini, Richard Hayman, and Leroy Anderson.

These concerts will be free and promise to be family-friendly performances. Among the pieces to be performed at these concerts will be “Syncopated Clock”, “Bugler’s Holiday,” and “Classical Jukebox by Anderson; “Little Brown Jug” and “When the Saints Go Marching In” by Hayman; and the “Peter Gun Theme,” “Pie in the Face Polka,” and “Moon River” by Mancini.

For those attending the concert in Covington, there will be the TANK park and ride shuttle from Covington Catholic Church beginning at 6:00 p.m. and leaving on the half hour. Both sites will have either concessions or food trucks with food for purchase.

The concert in Covington will be at Devou Park on Saturday August 31 while the concert in Fort Thomas will be at Tower Park on Sunday September 1. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m.
