The BLINK Art, Light & Culture Festival will be returning to Covington in October. Residents of Northern Kentucky, including those from Southgate, will not want to miss this special event.
This event is based in Cincinnati and will run easy and west of downtown Covington, running from Roebling Point to the edge of MainStrasse Village. It will cover 30 city blocks and feature light-based installations, projection mapping, and street art. Local Print shops often contribute to such events by printing maps and other details to garner attendance.
Justin Brookhart, executive director of the festival, said the goal of this year’s event is to create larger viewing areas to enable people to better see the displays and create some large-scale projection mapping so that such displays can be seen from farther distances. He hopes that new technology will also be used to creatively highlight murals, architecture, and historical buildings.
Joe Meyer, mayor of Covington, said the city is thrilled to be joining in hosting this festival and contributing $1.00 per resident as requested towards its expenses. Logistical support and staff from the Public Works and public safety departments are also committing time to the festival. Meyer added that such events raise the image of the region and enable residents to engage in an extraordinary and unique experience.
The festival will run from Thursday October 13 through Sunday October 16.
