A minor in artificial intelligence (AI) is being introduced Northern Kentucky University (NKU) this fall. Students in nearby Southgate might be interested in such a program.

The new minor will be offered through the College of Informatics. NKU is the first university in the commonwealth of Kentucky, and in the region, to offer a minor in AI. Students who successfully enrol will undertake courses in prompt engineering, machine learning, and the basics of computing, as well as the legal, ethical, and societal implications that come with the technology.

Local Print shops can be hired for brochure printing services to create materials with more information about such new programs and their benefits for students.

The Dean of the College of Informatics at NKU, Kevin Kirby, said that popular thought is AI is advancing at a rate not seen before, so it will continue to become a part of everyday life. Kirby said that accordingly, it is important that subject matter at the university is kept fresh, as an increasing number of students are coming to NKU with experience in AI.

Kirby added that AI is not just computer science and technology, but also about a new form of intelligence and learning. This means it will become all about how to converse with AI and achieve the desired outcomes.
