This month, residents in and around Southgate can put on their running shoes and run, or walk, for a good cause.
The Emerald Miles is a 5K event that supports The Epilepsy Foundation. Proceeds from the run will go to help the foundation with counseling efforts, support groups, youth camps, and adult activities.
The race will begin on 3rd Street, located near the Newport Aquarium at Newport on the Levee. The race route goes across two bridges, through several parks, and also takes participants along the Ohio River. After the race, there will be music and refreshments.
Registration costs $30 for adults, which includes a T-shirt. Kids aged 12 and under cost $15. Race day registration is $30, or $35 with a shirt.
Trophies will be given to the top finishers in each gender. Medals will also be distributed to the top two finishers in each age group.
No doubt the foundation has used a postcard printing service to promote the race. A direct mailer is an inexpensive way to inform the community about an event like this.
Packets can be picked up at the Epilepsy Foundation’s office in downtown Cincinnati on March 19 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and on March 20 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
The 5K begins on March 21 at 9:00 am. Race day registration is from 7:30 am until 8:30 am.
