Newport will soon be home to an Irish bar and grill, O’Bryon’s, the space recently vacated by Katharina’s Cafe-Konditorei.
People from nearby Southgate will no doubt want to travel to O’Bryon’s, which is its second location outside of Cincinnati.
Mansion Hill Properties, a development firm in Newport, owns the building and recruited the restaurant to fill the space. Co-owner Jason Esterkamp, was recruited by his father-in-law, Jim Bush, a partner at Mansion Hill, to convert Katharina’s into a bar and grill. The space dates back to 1874 and the firm won an award for historic rehabilitation for the work it did on the space.
The restaurant is currently undergoing renovations to shift it from a café into a pub, serving burgers, wings, and specialty drinks.
Esterkamp commented on the neighborhood, with its architecture and people walking around on a daily basis, and he sees O’Bryon’s as fitting into the area. The restaurant can be a destination as a casual place where people can socialize and get a quality meal at affordable prices, he says.
Tomorrow, March 1, is the planned opening date as March can be a busy month, Esterkamp said, between March Madness and St. Patrick’s Day. However, the granting of liquor permits will determine the exact date.
Flyer printing is often used to publicize grand openings and special events during the month.
