Celebration marks citys birthday

Locals in and around Southgate are gearing up for an event to observe Covington’s 200th birthday.

For six days, the BB and T Summer Celebration will take over the Covington waterfront. The event is part of a yearlong celebration of the city’s pride and progress.

Attendees can take a ride on the Ferris wheel or a giant slide. Kids can check out the activity tent, where there will be circus acts and games.

Throughout the celebration, over 20 music groups will take the stage. There will also be a wide variety of food vendors. No doubt companies used a business card printing service to make cards to distribute at the event.

In the local area, there will be tours of historic homes and statues in the vicinity. Visitors can also go on a tour of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge or the Roebling Mural.

It all takes place on July 9 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and July 10 until July 14 from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. The festivities will be held at Covington Landing, located on 1 Madison Avenue, and at Rivercenter Boulevard between Scott Boulevard and Madison Avenue.

On July 12, there will be a ‘Bike-Centennial’ ride through local neighborhoods. On the same day, there will also be a canine parade and contest at George Rogers Clark Park, located on Riverside Drive.
