Richmond hospital completes renovations

At the beginning of this month, Baptist Health Richmond celebrated the completion of a major renovation project. The renovation began in 2014, cost $20m and improved seven major areas of the hospital.

As part of the celebration, the hospital held a breakfast and informational tours of the newly updated areas. More 50 guests, leaders in the community, attended the ceremony and tours. The renovated areas included the emergency room, women's care department, and imaging. A new outpatient center was created as part of the project, as well.

The renovation project took so long because it was worked on in phases, instead of all at once. Hospital officials decided to complete the work in this way to keep patients as comfortable as possible during the process.

Hospitals can use printing services when they are undergoing major renovations and projects, to keep patients up-to-date on the progress and to provide information about how the projects will benefit the community.

In the case of Baptist Health Richmond, the emergency department saw the greatest amount of improvements thanks to the renovation. While it once had 15 patients’ bays, separated by curtains, it now offers 20 private patient areas.

Treatment areas were not the only part of the hospital to get a makeover; the dining room was also renovated. It now offers more options to both visitors and employees of the health system.
