Seminar promotes urban forest canopy preservation

Lexington residents can carry their love of gardening into the fall by attending upcoming seminars and workshops presented by the Fayette County Cooperative Extension Service.

The first in a series of seminars expounding on the benefits provided by our urban forest canopies will be held at the Extension Service’s facility, 1140 Red Mile Place, Lexington. It is entitled Creating Living Landscape and hosted by the Urban Forest Initiative, which is a collaborative endeavor co-directed by Lynne Rieske-Kinney and Mary Arthur, two Forestry Department faculty members at the University of Kentucky.

Collaborative contributors include representatives from nature preserves, local and state governments, and the Arboretum, as well as private sector tree experts and leading figures from a variety of university departments. In all likelihood, these stakeholders all find the services of a Stationery printing company helpful in their attempts to educate the public on a variety of subjects, including forest preservation.

Creating Living Landscape will be delivered by University of Delaware Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology Professor Doug Tallamy. The author of ‘Bringing Nature Home: How you can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants’ will speak on the importance of restoring our urban habitat.

The first lecture takes place on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 pm. As is true of all the lectures in the series, this one will be free to the public.
