Lexington run to benefit local conservatory

Veterans Park in Lexington will be hosting a race in November to raise money for the Hickman Creek Conservatory.

The 7th Annual Dirty Dog Trail 4 Miler is a fundraiser where runners can compete in a chip-timed race on the scenic trails throughout Veterans Park. The course will consist of mainly hard-packed dirt trails, though participants will also be traversing across grassy fields and a rocky creek. The race is open for athletes of all experience levels, and each runner will receive a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt. There will be five age divisions in the competition.

The Hickman Creek Conservatory is a non-profit group that originated in 2017. The organization aims to keep the West Hickman Watershed clean by partaking in stream clean-ups, coordinating volunteers in the group’s monitoring program, and educating families on the watershed’s needs. The conservatory also plants trees and advocates for green infrastructure. Non-profit organizations such as this may share their goals and purpose with others by using brochure printing.

The race will occur on Saturday, November 13 at 9:00 am. The current price to register for the fundraiser is $25, though the cost will increase after September 30. Those interested in becoming a virtual participant can pay $30. Packets for the event can be picked up at Veterans Park on the day from 7:30 am to 8:45 am.
