A quilting course is being offered in Georgetown next month to teach area residents the finer points of quilting for a good cause.
The Quilts Across America event will begin in a few weeks. It will offer a setting and instruction to help Georgetown residents learn the basics of making quilts. The event aims to allow individuals in the region with quilting experience to enhance their skills and use their quilts to make a difference in the community.
Attendees will receive instruction on creating three-dimensional effects that resemble curling ribbons. The learning and quilting process is designed to be fun and memorable. The instructor will teach the technique of Studio Design’s Wing Clipper. The method used will be the Pickets and Quickets. Brochure printing is an effective way to share tips about techniques with beginners at crafting events like this.
The beneficiary of the quilting event is Sleep In Heavenly Peace, a group dedicated to providing beds to underprivileged youth. Attendees will be provided with fabric, snacks, a free “Hocus Pocus” pattern, and expert guidance. Guests are encouraged to bring sewing machines from home along with basic sewing supplies.
The Scott County Library will host the event on Sunday, July 21st, starting at 1:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM. General admission and enrollment are free, and interested parties can make reservations online.
