Physical challenge honors fallen heroes in Georgetown
A fitness test is returning to Georgetown this autumn in honor of fallen Special Forces servicemen involved in the Battle of Mogadishu, and area residents are invited to watch or participate.
The 5th Annual Queenslake Mogadishu Mile, which is being organized by Queenslake Horse Farm, is set to make a triumphant return to Georgetown in support of a good cause. The event aims to provide a challenging but rewarding experience to all who enroll and participate.
The inaugural event was held in 2021 as a way to honor 19 fallen U.S. soldiers who took part in the Battle of Mogadishu, which took place on October 3rd and 4th in 1993. The event was founded by area resident William Chmela, along with his son, daughter-in-law, and their daughters, as a tribute to remembrance. Banner printing is a powerful way to greet and reward participants as they approach the finish line at such events.
The Queenslake Horse Farm will pause its horse operations for the fitness event. The grounds feature a one-mile lake, five challenging obstacles, and several wooded trails that participants must navigate and traverse on their way to the finish line.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, starting at 8:00 AM. It will be held at 292 Soards Road in Georgetown. Team registration is $115, while individual registration costs $30 online.
