Holiday festivities coming to Georgetown residents

Georgetown residents and visitors will want to maintain an open schedule next month as the holiday celebrations kick into high gear.

The Home for the Holidays parade and tree lighting are coming to Georgetown in a few weeks, providing locals with an opportunity to come together and revel in the holiday spirit. The parade and tree lighting are being conducted by the Scott County Tourism Commission to welcome the merriment and joy of the holidays into town.

Guests can expect to witness a festive parade and the lighting of the town’s holiday tree. Other activities include open houses and tours of Georgetown’s Victorian mansions. With over 200 buildings on the National Registry of Historic Places, the Home for the Holidays celebration is a memorable event for the entire family.

Downtown Georgetown will be decorated to fit the holiday theme and to create a welcoming environment for Santa’s planned arrival as part of the parade. Banner printing is often seen as an effective way to make announcements at events like this. Visitors are also encouraged to stroll through the shops lining the streets for gifts and decorations.

The parade is planned for Saturday, December 2nd, beginning at 6:00pm. Attendees should arrive early to ensure parking and a spot with ideal visibility for the parade and tree lighting. Attendance is free, and interested parties can contact Lori Saunders at lori@georgetownky.com for more information.
