Guided farm tour enlightens Georgetown

A local organic farm is opening its gates to interested residents for an informative and immersive tour, and Georgetown residents are invited to attend.

The Nourishment: Turkey Talk Tour is set to commence in a few weeks, led by local farmer Mac Stone. Stone will use the opportunity to spread knowledge on the crops and livestock raised on the small farm in Georgetown’s city limits. The event is the farm’s most popular tour, and interested parties are encouraged to make reservations while spots remain.

Stone will lead attendees through the farm and discuss the importance of broad-breasted turkeys to the farm’s operations and practices. Guests will learn about the benefits of nourishing the land and using regenerative farming to allow future crops to thrive. Brochure printing is an excellent way to provide more information to guests about crops and livestock at such learning events.

The tour will focus on greenhouse systems, pastured pigs and poultry, soil building, beneficial insects, and vegetable growing. The event will proceed rain or shine, so guests should make sure they dress sensibly. Attendees are asked to arrive 10 minutes early to ensure the tour starts on time.

The Elmwood Stock Farm will host the tour on Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Adult general admission tickets cost $15 per guest. Children 12 and under enter free. Reservations are available online.
