Chili cookoff brings flavor to Georgetown residents

A chili cookoff is set to welcome competitors who want to display their family recipes, and Georgetown residents are invited to attend and vote for the best option.

The 2024 Country Boy Brewing Chili Cookoff is preparing to welcome competitors next month. It will provide a forum for chefs and cooks to display their skills and win prizes. The cookoff's purpose is to raise funds and canned goods for local charity God’s Pantry.

Competitors are asked to prepare and bring a large batch of their best chili recipe for attendees to try. Larger batches are encouraged to allow more visitors to try each sample. Cooks who create larger batches can benefit from receiving more votes. Printing services are usually essential to tally votes and determine the winner of such cooking events.

Cooks are also encouraged to bring their chili at serving temperature to warm up guests and ensure the best flavor. Serving samples will be two ounces, and any serving container is welcome. Competitors can also bring chili toppings from home and any necessary serving utensils. There are no rules, and cooks are not required to use beer in their chili recipes.

The competition will be held at Country Boy Brewing on Sunday, November 17, with the sampling beginning at 1:00 PM. Competitors can register for the cookoff online, and registration fees start at $25 per cook.
