The Dunes Learning Center, which is located not far from Portage, will be welcoming spring with a day that will encourage people to come out and enjoy fun in the sun.
The Get Outdoors Day celebration will be back for its 7th year, and lots of activities are on the agenda. It is all being offered free of charge, and all ages are welcome.
Guests at the festivities will be offered a chance to learn more about the Little Calumet River and the wildlife that calls it home. The Northwest Indiana Paddling Association will be on hand to provide tips for safe kayaking, and several make-and-take stations will be set up where the public can make a piece of art or a handcraft to take home with them as a memento of the day. Banner printing for an occasion like this can be sourced from printers in the local area.
Along with all of the activities, a picnic lunch will be offered in the shade of the site’s trees and live entertainment will keep the crowd entertained. Guided hikes will be on offer, and all preregistration is all that is required to be a part of the fun.
This day of outdoor fun will be on offer on June 9 at the Dunes Learning center in Chesterton. Anyone who is interested in finding out more has been invited to visit its Facebook page for further details.
