When they make their plans for the upcoming holidays, Portage individuals and families are asked to do a good turn for those in need throughout Northwest Indiana.
The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has put out a call to everyone to save some time in their December schedule to lend a hand with preparing food parcels, which will be distributed to those in need. It was noted that this may make a big difference for the 25,000 children in the area that are facing food insecurity, while also giving those who volunteer the satisfaction that can go with helping others.
While they prepare the food packages, the helpers will be treated to an assortment of activities to thank them for their generous spirit. There will be crafts, games, entertainment and even a visit from Santa, who will pose with the attendees for photos. Admission is by donation, and pre-registration is required to help keep the function organized.
Community feeding programs often depend upon the generosity of the local community. A poster printing company will have an assortment of ways to engage the public, raising awareness about its activities and how people can get involved.
Hope for the Holidays will be making the season happier for families on December 9. Those who sign up to lend a helping hand are asked to be at 6490 Broadway in Merrillville.
