Portage families will soon have a chance to participate in an event that will be dedicated to helping them learn steps they can take to be proactive when it comes to their health.
During Spring Into health, which will be an interactive, hands-on experience, Ivy Tech Community College and Porter Regional Hospital will offer an assortment of activities. It is open to people of any age, and all are welcome.
This no-cost occasion will include both health screenings and education, and there will also be live demonstrations for both children and adults. Porter Regional Hospital will be showcasing its high-tech heart care, and there will also be an ‘ask a doctor’ booth set up, which will be manned by a doctor from the only heart care center in the area that specializes in women.
The clinical students from Ivy Tech Community College will be lending their skills to the function, and there will be a focus on heart health. Screening for diabetes, blood pressure, osteoporosis and obesity will be on offer, along with demonstrations of safe lifting techniques and other activities. People can enjoy a refreshment, and while the event is free, people have been asked to register beforehand. Printing services for this type of large function can be supplied by an area printer
The expo will be held on April 11 at 3100 Ivy Tech Drive in Valparaiso. Anyone who would like to find out more, or to register, can do so by calling 800-541-1861.
