Portage area event to be focused on food

Whether someone grows it, sells it, prepares it, or just enjoys eating it, food plays a role in everyone's life. A Portage area expo will be focused on what we eat, and will be a daylong event open to anyone who would like to add to their knowledge on the topic.

Whether they wish to come for just one workshop or stay for the entire day, the FED: Food Expo and Discussion symposium can offer members of the public a day that’s filled with learning. Sustainability will be one of the watchwords for the day, and with offerings that range from raising backyard chickens and foraging for wild foods to seed saving and fermenting, there will be options for almost any interest.

During the lunchtime portion of the day and other breaks in their schedule, the delegates can stop by the vendor expo. Here, they will find booths manned by a variety of businesses and organizations, including eateries, farms, community groups, and home-based food vendors. Sponsorships from the local corporate community will be highly appreciated, and this can be a great way for a company to place its Logo Design in the eye of potential customers.

February 7 has been chosen as the date for this function, which will be putting food and sustainability first. County Line Orchard will be the venue for the event, and the fee to register starts at $5.
