Math software workshop set for Champaign
People who want to learn about the latest big thing in math applications have a chance to do so at an upcoming workshop.
Steve Phelps of GeoGebra will be at Parkland College in Champaign to present a GeoGebra Workshop.
GeoGebra is a new mathematics software designed to be used by people in all educational levels. The software brings calculus, statistics, graphing, spreadsheets, algebra, and geometry together in one package that is easy for anyone to use. GeoGebra's software is currently used by millions of people around the world, with the result that the company has become dynamic mathematics software's leading provider. Their software supports STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education, as well as innovations in learning and teaching throughout the world.
According to GeoGebra, the software features spreadsheet, algebra, and geometry functions that are fully dynamic and connected, with an interface that is powerful yet simple to use. An authoring tool is included so users are able to create resources for interactive learning, such as web pages. GeoGebra also comes in a number of languages so it can be used anywhere, and non-commercial users have access to open source software.
The workshop is set to begin at 8:30 am on June 23, and wind up at 3:00 pm on June 24. Parkland College is at 2400 West Bradley Avenue in Champaign. Print shops can assist in creating extensive materials for courses like this.
