Upcoming basketball workshop for dedicated players

Breakthrough Basketball is hosting a co-ed summer camp at Lake Barrington.

The Elite Youth Scoring and Playmaking Camp is open to students in grades 4-9 who are serious about the sport and want to play at a higher level. It focuses on teaching offensive basketball tactics with personal instruction. During the four-day event, students will learn about shooting, passing, and handling the ball, along with proper footwork. The camp teaches advanced skills that go a level above most youth sports camps.

By the end of the camp, students should be able to perform under pressure, shoot baskets even if they are crowded by the opponent, position their body to stay open and increase lay-up opportunities, perform special footwork to finish a score, maintain excellent hand-eye coordination, and feel confident in their basketball ability.

Campers will participate in scrimmages against each other to practice the skills they learn. The games are prepared to maximize practice time and provide equal competition.

Employees at Breakthrough have prepared players to become legends in basketball such as Olympians, NBA, and WNBA players, all-stars at Duke University and Michigan State, and high school athletes who have won most valuable player awards.

Registration is $236 per child. Every position is welcome to register, as the camp creates well-rounded players. Camp is July 27 through July 30, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm each day. It will take place at the Canlan Sportsplex.

Camps use original logo designs on shirts and give them to students as a souvenir of the event.
