Race for animals to take place in Barrington

Next month, the Animal House Shelter is hosting Dash for the Dogs in Barrington.

The event is the 10th yearly race. Participants can choose to walk or run a 5K, walk one mile as a family for fun, or run the race virtually.

Everyone who crosses the finish line gets a medal. The first three people of each gender from each age group that finish the 5K will earn an additional medal. There will be a reward for first dog to finish the race.

Registration for each of the races is $35 before race day, or $40 on race day. Groups who register online and include more than nine participants get $10 off. Participants will get a $10 rebate if five people use their referral link to sign up. Children age nine and under can run free. All proceeds help Huntly-based non-profit Animal House Shelter pay for the care of homeless animals.

Registration and check-in starts at 7:15 am in the Jewel Tea Pavilion. They end at 8:45am for the 5K and 10:15 am for the one-mile fun walk. Races will take place 15 minutes after registration and check-in ends. Awards for the 5K will take place at 10:00 am. All races will take place in Citizens Park at 511 Lake Zurich Road.

Dash for the Dogs is on August 30 from 7:15am to noon. Vaccinated and well-mannered dogs are welcome. Information about such events is often spread through flyer and brochure printing.
