Painting course spreads knowledge in Barrington

A painting course is stopping in Barrington next month, allowing residents to learn the basics and enhance their artistic skills.

The Plein Air Painting Demonstration, led by Steve Puttrich, will provide insights and tips to artists and other creatives wanting to learn how to begin painting in the outdoors. The form of painting started in the 1800s in Great Britain, and Puttrich wants to spread awareness and knowledge about it in Illinois.

Puttrich, who has displayed his previous works in the Barrington White House, will demonstrate his techniques and share his experiences with registered workshop guests.

The painting session will be held outdoors, so interested parties are encouraged to monitor the weather and wear comfortable and suitable clothes for the conditions. Guests should also wear clothing that they are happy to get dirty with paint for a stress-free learning experience. Printing services are an excellent way to make prints of finished works to share with friends and family. Painting supplies will be included at the event.

The session will be held at the corner of South Cook Street and East Station on Thursday, August 1st, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Admission to the event is free, though interested parties are encouraged to make reservations online to ensure a spot. They can do this by heading to its Eventbrite listing.
