Local farmers market returns in June

The Barrington Farmers Market reopens next month with the expected consumer favorite vendors, as well as some fresh new offerings.

The 2021 market will see many of the traditional vendors return to the site, including Bridge and Sweets Gourmet Bakery, Cheese People, Gigawatt Coffee Roasters, Honey Lake Bee Company, Piscasaw Gardens, Tamales Express, and Umlands Crunchy Cheese Bites.

Applications for new vendors, including farmers selling produce, and vendors with other types of food, are welcome. The Forms are available on the market website, and printing services may be used to produce Copies ready to be filled out. Completed applications should be mailed to the Cook County Department of Public Health, located in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Market regulations, food safety laws and sanitation guidelines are also provided on the market website.

Fostered by the Barrington Village Association back in 2000, the annual farmers market brings homegrown goodness to the residents of the Village. Residents experience the fresh, local foods brought to them by their neighbors, while developing community relationships and encouraging entrepreneurship. The idea is to boost the local economy and lower the environmental impact of transporting goods.

The Barrington Farmers Market reopens on Thursday, June 17, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The market is open weekly on Thursdays until the season ends on October 21. Vendors can be found in the downtown Village Core on Park Avenue and Cook Street.
