Families can enjoy holiday events together in Barrington this season, both virtually and with others.
The Barrington White House will host the Encore Players for a virtual performance. The troupe will read Eileen Mitchell's Pillow Fight on stage. Julia Price will direct the presentation, which is a parody based on the bubbly romantic films from the 1950s. It is suitable for all ages and includes the zany antics of characters trying to reunite for their return to Broadway.
After the show, the cast will answer questions from the audience. Tickets are $10.
Eileen Mitchell has won awards for comedy writing from The Will Rogers Writers' Workshop and The Robert Benchley Society, and Thurber House The Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop named her Writer of the Month. The Manhattan Repertory Theatre's Off-Broadway department, as well as theatres in Chicago and San Diego, have featured her work.
Later in December, the Diegnan Family Chiropractic will host an all-day health and holiday affair for families to drop by, staying safe as they do so. Chiropractic professionals will be available to answer questions about muscle and skeletal health. A $30 donation of toys is suggested, which will go toward children who must celebrate in the hospital. Families can take pictures with Santa and enjoy hot cocoa.
Pillow Fight airs on December 5 at 3:00 pm, while the holiday toy drive is on December 16 from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm. Local businesses use flyer printing to advertise events inside each other's establishments.
