Barrington venue to stream piano performance

Barrington's White House will host a virtual premiere of a piano recital of The American Songbook.

Richard Glazier, cultural historian and acclaimed pianist, will create an original perspective of Hollywood and Broadway. He will do this through interviews with professionals, his commentary, and piano music. The performance is being broadcast from California.

Glazier was trained in classic piano and has won awards for his performances. When he saw the musical Girl Crazy, he gained an interest in Ira Gershwin, who wrote the lyrics for the songs. This fueled his passion for American Popular Songbook and Gershwin collection. He would eventually evolve into one of the most knowledgeable enthusiasts of the topic. In addition, he has great enthusiasm for Hollywood and Broadway music.

During the performance, Glazier will highlight music in the United States from the early 1900s. After he plays one of the featured songs, he will share its history including lesser known trivia on the composers and entertainment that used it. The recital will also include photos and video clips of the era.

Tickets are $10 but additional donations to the Barrington White House are appreciated. They are available for purchase on the venue's website. The Barrington White House is located at 145 West Main Street. The recital will show on November 15 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
