A Barrington location of a fun shop will have an artist showing off their craft in early October.
Hand Cut Silhouette is an event where kids are able to experience an art technique known to be challenging to master. Cassidy Alexander uses just paper and scissors to create the silhouettes. She does not use a template or tracing of any kind, working with her subject a short distance from her seat. Once she finishes a piece, she will use a 5”x7” “art board” and glue the cutout to it.
Kids will be asked to sit for the piece for a couple minutes. Staff at the event will have a few tricks up their sleeves to assist with keeping the kids occupied during this time.
Payment will be dealt with in person, but there are appointment times to reserve online via Eventbrite first. While people can walk up, pre-registration is encouraged. There are slots spread 15 minutes apart between 11:00 am and 2:45 pm. It will cost $30 per image and $15 for each duplication. Also available is a black frame in an oval shape for $29.
Marvin’s Toy Store is using its local shop as the venue for the workshop, which will be on Sunday, October 8. Parents can bring their kids for the activity between the start time of 11:00 am and up to 15 minutes before the end at 3:00 pm. Those who book a slot are asked to arrive 15 minutes before it. Flyer printing is a technique often used by venues and organizers looking to advertise their activities.
