Barrington offered environmental stewardship opportunity

A community service project will soon be taking place not far from Barrington, and it will offer members of the public a chance to get involved in some hands-on environmental stewardship.

The team at Hoffman Estates Parks have put out a call seeking volunteers for a morning in Charlemagne Park, and it will combine learning with fun and an opportunity to meet others who care about the environment. Anyone who would like to get involved is asked to fill out a volunteer application ahead of time, and while all ages can lend a hand, children do need to be accompanied by an adult.

The participants in the activity will be walking through the park looking for seed heads and seeds, and they will collect some from the native plants they find. As they go, the attendees will learn about the various species present and their role in the ecosystem. Gloves, tools, and other equipment needed for the task will be supplied.

When organizing a volunteer activity like this, many coordinators find that the helpers appreciate receiving small Promotional Products to thank them for their efforts. A printer will have a variety to choose from.

This morning of seed collecting at Charlemagne Park will begin at 8:00 am on Tuesday, October 25th. It is set to wrap up at 10:00 am.
