The Fox Valley Beekeepers Association will be the host for an introduction to the art of attracting pollinators to a garden, and the attendees will learn how easy it can be to be a good friend to the bees.
The group, which was founded back in 2015, works to provide the public with information about bees and their role in agriculture and the natural world. This Barrington area activity will offer a sneak peek into their lives, and anyone who is interested is welcome to join in the learning.
The facilitator of the workshop will discuss both honey and native bee species, and the participants will learn why they are so important for both fruit and vegetable production. Their use of both nectar and pollen will be discussed, and everyone will walk away with a better knowledge of which plants to choose if they want to make their beds especially attractive to insects and other pollinators.
More people have become interested in helping bees in recent years, and attending class offers a way for them to learn more about these industrious insects. A brochure printing company will have an assortment of styles of learning materials available to use during an organized activity like this.
Fox Valley Beekeepers will be sharing its expertise with the public on June 18. Pine Hill Nursery will be providing space for the occasion.
