Amita Health is a race at Hoffman Estates outside of Barrington.
The race is part of Amita's 12th year of Fit America Fest and Chicago's Spring Running Challenge. Participants can choose to do a half marathon, 10K, or 5K. Each course is approved by USA Track and Field. There is also a short Kid’s Run.
Runners and those who support them can track them in real time online. Near the end of the race, runners can pick up a flag and wave it as they finish. Everyone who finishes the race will receive Promotional Products such as a medal or Kid’s Run ribbon. Pacers are available to help runners finish at goal times by keeping up a consistent pace.
Proceeds go toward the Hoffman Estates Police Explorers Post 806. With the help of volunteer police officers, the organization offers training to youth who want to go into law enforcement. Explorers gain a general knowledge of every type of police work. Volunteer officers also plan for upcoming events.
The fastest three in each age, gender, and running distance group will receive a special medal. Groups will be separated into five-year age spans, excluding runners under 15 and those 70 and older, which will have their own group. Males and females will be in separate groups. If a winner is not present or does not take home their medal, it will be mailed to them for $5.
All three races start at 7:30am on June 20.
