Nampa garden center to organize gourd festival
Franz Witte will be partnering with the Idaho Gourd Society to host an autumn festival in Nampa.
The Fall & Gourd Festival is a four-day experience filled with seasonal activities for families. Attendees can take part in multiple workshops and classes at the garden center to learn about subjects like the positive aspects of gourds. The festival will feature exhibitions from members of the Idaho Gourd Society where guests can purchase gifts and watch demonstrations. Eventgoers can also see performances from Brook Faulk and the Crazy Love Duo.
The Idaho Gourd Society was initially created in 1998 by Heather Mingus and Barbara Merrill to unify gourd artists and promote gourd appreciation. Members of the organization learn how to grow and harvest gourds, participate in competitions, and take part in public outreach programs. The classes offered by the society cover topics such as pine needle weaving on gourds, ancient faux pottery, and washi paper gourd eggs.
The gourd-themed festival will be held from Thursday, September 22 to Sunday, September 25. The event will take place between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm each night. There are no tickets to buy to enter the garden center's fest, and registration is also not needed. Companies that put together autumn festivals such as this may use print shops to make themed banners and posters for the event.
