This December, the Boise Bicycle Project will hold its 20th annual Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway.
The programme gives local children bicycles designed around their own wishes. Since it began in 2007, it has delivered at least 550 “dream bikes” every year to children who may otherwise be unable to afford one.
To find families who need support, the project partners with local nonprofits, after-school programmes and government organizations. Children are asked to draw the bicycle they would most like to receive. Volunteers and project staff then collect donated bikes and decorate them to match those drawings.
There are several ways for community members to help. They can donate children’s bicycles during October and November, make financial contributions, volunteer their time, or adopt a dream bike.
From December 1, 2026, adopt-a-bike options will open, giving donors the chance to fund a bicycle based on one child’s story and drawing. More than 100 volunteers support the project each year by preparing bicycles, liaising with families and helping run the event.
Clear signage is important at community events like this. Therefore, organizers often rely on banner printing to direct visitors, share key information, recognize sponsors and create a welcoming environment for families and volunteers.
The giveaway will be held at 1027 S. Lusk Street in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday, December 19, 2026. Activities are due to begin at 9 a.m.
