Suwanee will hold its 1st Annual Suwanee Chili Cook-Off & Music Festival at Suwanee Town Center Park next month.
The event sees amateur chefs and junior cooks compete to see whose chili is most popular. The fest is certified by the International Chili Society, so those who win will qualify for the World Chili Cook-Off. All competitors are asked to make six gallons of chili to be judged during the event, and the contest's two categories are traditional red chili and homestyle chili. All submissions must be made from scratch.
The money earned from the chili and music festival will benefit Project Green, a local non-profit organization that helps children attend summer camps and other educational programs. Patrycja Siewert Towns and Kim Kreiss founded the group. The organization hopes to eventually purchase Green Spaces for children to play in and learn. Little Nancy Creek Park is one of the locations supported by Project Green.
The chili cook-off will take place on Saturday, November 12 from noon to 5:00 pm. The chili tasting experience will last from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Those interested in competing against other cooks during the event can pay $55. Businesses may reserve a vendor space at the debut fest for $195.
